On The ‘Gram – Oct 25, 2020

It may not look like much, but it’s taken me literally months to feel up to even going outside and working on a project I’ve been wanting to work on since February. ⠀

I’ve managed to put down the faux wood platform, and next is the greenhouse that I plan to use as a photoshoot backdrop and dance studio… (you may not know this, but dancing is one of my favorite ways to de-stress). ⠀

Music has always been an avenue to another time and space; it’s like a best friend that will never leave my side. ⠀

But that being said, this year has been the year from hell… and I say that with the weight of the world, for not just me.

In February, I lost my grandmother on my father’s side, who has always been kind and loving to everyone around her.⠀

Yesterday, I lost my grandfather on my mother’s side, who introduced me to photography many years ago and was one of the first people to show me how to live fearlessly.⠀

I hadn’t seen either of them in years, and I was too underwater here in Denver to have the mental capacity to visit them, either, and that will haunt me for years. But, I know that many are losing their loved ones to COVID without the capacity to say their goodbyes at all.⠀

I’m also mourning the loss of a love that I thought was the one for me, but has shown me to be one of the coldest hearts I’ve ever known… and that shook me to the core.⠀

I try to see the good in everyone, but this time it really took me down… hard.⠀

So with that, I wrote a little blog post on my website on how to cope with grief, and one of the best things you can do for yourself during a time like this is to tend to things, including others, and making space for yourself to get outside and to just breathe and mourn the loss.⠀

I also included tips on how to talk to someone else coping with grief, in a way that is supportive.⠀

On a lighter note, I watched the new Borat Subsequent Movie on @PrimeVideo and I don’t know how they managed to pull it off, but it is one of the best things to come out of 2020, making fun of the shit-show that is this year in the USA. Do yourself a favor and go watch it right now! ???
